Kurukshetra, 18 May 2026: To commemorate International Museum Day 2026, Kurukshetra Panorama & Science Centre (KPSC), a unit of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, inaugurated its new VR Theatre Facility.The facility was inaugurated by Prof. Somnath Sachdeva, Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, in the presence of Prof. A.R. Chaudhary, Dean, Student Welfare, Kurukshetra University, as the Guest of Honour.
The VR Theatre offers an immersive virtual reality experience through six VR stations equipped with 360-degree head-mounted displays, motion-enabled chairs, and dedicated server consoles for language selection and system control. The synchronized motion and visuals create a realistic and engaging 6D experience for visitors.
The theatre features four immersive films:
- Incredible India – Showcasing India's heritage, culture, and natural beauty.
- Life in 2050: A Journey Through Time – Exploring future technologies and sustainable living.
- Gagan Yatra – A fascinating journey through space, the International Space Station, the Moon, and Mars.
- Hidden Gems of Ocean – Discovering the rich diversity of marine life and underwater ecosystems.
The addition of the VR Theatre enhances the Centre's commitment to providing innovative, technology-driven science communication and experiential learning for visitors of all ages.
