Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre was opened to the public on 06 March 2001. It is a beautiful cylindrical building that is used for exhibitions and working models for visitor’s activities. Soon the Centre became one of the most popular Centres in NCSM network with the spontaneous support of the local and national community.
The aim of the Centre is to popularise Science and Technology among public and to supplement Science education in schools and colleges to foster a spirit of scientific enquiry among the students.
The outreach programmes of the Centre include Teachers’ Training Programme, Workshops, Summer Vacation Hobby Camp, District Level Science Fair, Popular Science Lectures in different fields of Science & Technology, Science Demonstration Lectures, Sky Observation Programmes, Temporary Exhibitions, Science Quizzes, etc.
At present, the Centre has four galleries on the topics Indian scientific Heritage, Indian Technological Heritage, Fun Science and Panorama on Mahabharata-Battle of Kurukshetra. Housed in a tall and cylindrical building, with its elegant architecture and ambience, the main attraction of the Centre is a life-like Panorama of the epic battle of Kurukshetra. Standing at the Centre of the cylindrical hall, one can feel the towering 34 feet high paintings of the episodes from the 18-day confrontation between the Pandavas and the Kauravas come alive before his eyes. Merged with this is the diorama of the battleground that epitomizes the carnage realistically. The chanting of Gita and distant war crimes mingled with lighting illusions create the perfect ambience. The Centre also has a 3D Theatre, Television Studio and Dinosaur Enclave. The Science Park is an added attraction of the Centre.
The Panorama on Mahabharata attracts the visitors to the wonders of Battle of Kurukshetra.
The Centre also operates a Mobile Science Exhibition bus which tours to the rural areas of Haryana for spreading the message of Science.
The centre is located is within the town centre of Kurukshetra which offers many local hotels and dharmshalas having deluxe and economy accommodation. A guest house of Haryana Tourism Corporation is also situated near Panorama.
The centre is located about 1.5 kms from railway station. Auto/Rickshaw is available to take the tourists to the attraction.
